Mission Statement:  In accordance with the U.S. Bishops Plan, we are to assist all members of our Parish with Respect for Life issues in the following ways:

Public information and education on life issues occurring at the beginning, during or at the end of life. Contact Richard Thorne: 548-9970.

Pastoral care:

  • prenatal counseling and referrals;
  • post abortion healing and resources;
  • care for the chronically ill, disabled or dying;
  • visiting the sick in conjunction with the parish health ministries.

Public policy forums - how to change hearts, minds and ultimately the laws that foster the culture of death.

Prayer and worship devoted to stopping the public acceptance of abortion/PAS/embryonic research/cloning, etc.

St. Thomas Quilters meet most Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Throughout the year they construct a quilt for the bazaar, a baby quilt for each child baptized in the Parish, and various other charitable projects as the need arises. They also work on their own projects as they enjoy the camaraderie of the group. They gladly share their knowledge with others. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to join the group.  Please call the Parish office for location and information: 923-3390.

Free Spirits: Are you single, widowed, divorced, or never married? If so, you are cordially invited to join together with the "Free Spirits" once a month in having fun. This group was formed as part of the Social Outreach Program of St. Thomas Church in February of 1999. Since then, many 'singles' have shared their life experiences while enjoying a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, such as potlucks, dine-outs, Bunko games, sightseeing trips, etc. It is usually difficult for a widow/widower to make the transition from 'couple' back to 'single' and to find a place that provides support and socializing with other singles. Jesus was a single person and He participated in many social events, thus setting the example for us; that we cannot help others without getting to know them, even if it is just on a social basis.

Many singles have family around for support, but we must remember there are others who have no family close by and are lonely for someone their own age to share life's experiences in a warm and respectable environment. This could be the opportunity God is providing for you to join as a community in helping others outside of your family circle.

Call Jeri Burck (923-8795), or Ken Hanson (548-5845) for more information.
