Miss Courtney Jackson
My name is Courtney Jackson and I am the Kindergarten Teacher at St. Thomas Academy. I joined STA in the Fall of 2006, begining my first year of teaching.
I was born in Woodstock , IL , an hour north of Chicago . I lived there my entire life, surrounded by my large and loving extended family. I have one sister and a LOT of cousins. Growing up as the oldest grandchild I learned to teach at an early age. My mother is a teacher, as was my grandfather. I discovered my love for the classroom in High School, working as a teaching assistant in a special education early childhood classroom. I enjoyed my responsibilities in making a difference in children's lives and continued this position each summer for 5 years. After graduating from Marian Central Catholic High School I attended St. Norbert College in Green Bay, WI and received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology; Human Services. Upon receiving my degree I decided that teaching is truly my passion, so I went right back to receive my Master of Arts in Teaching from Aurora University .
I decided to move to Central Oregon while visiting in 2004, realizing my sense of adventure. I have enjoyed learning all about the area through skiing, hiking, biking and the beautiful rivers. I look forward to my new role as an educator!
I believe that each day is a gift from God and a new day of learning. I look forward to watching each child blossom throughout the year, for I know I will be witnessing first hand the wonderful works of God.
Kindergarten is such a special year in the life of a student, for it is the beginning of their journey up the academic ladder. I look forward to all the challenges and the rewards to come. I am so happy to be teaching at St. Thomas Academy !
