Starlite Gala 2009
The St. Thomas Academy Star Lite Gala will be held on December 11, 2009, at the Eagle Crest Resort. We need auction items for this event, and sponsors are very welcome. All proceeds go to St. Thomas School Academy and the Parish Building Fund.
Tickets for this event are available by calling Jenny Hubbard at the school office at 548-3785.
- A reserved Corporate table for 8 persons is $750.00 which is an Earn Your Wings Sponsor and includes amenities.
- Per person tickets are $60.00.

Adult Faith Development
Catholic Update/RCIA Series are given by Susan and Richard Thorne. This series of classes is for Catholics wishing to know more about their faith as well as non-Catholics wishing to come into full communion with the church or to know more about the Catholic faith. Classes will go from August/ September to May/June and are held in the Side Vestibule at the church at 7 p.m. every Tuesday. If anyone is interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith through these classes, please phone the parish office @ 923-3390 for more information.

St. Thomas Adult Bible Study News - January 24, 2010
Fall Study REVIEW
Review Sessions are being offered on January 30th and February 6th in the side vestibule at the Church. If you are interested in reviewing the entire DVD series, from "A QUICK JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE", in one day contact the parish office (541) 923-3390 so we'll know how many to expect. The sessions will begin at 10:00am, and conclude around 3:30pm. Bring a sack lunch and your timeline chart. Coffee will be provided. If you did not participate in the fall bible study class you are welcome to attend but will not have study materials. The review sessions are being offered at NO CHARGE.
SPRING 2010 BIBLE STUDY
Registration for the Spring Adult Bible Study will be offered on January 30-31, February 6-7, and February 13-14 afer all masses. In this study entitled "1st Corinthians, The Church and the Christian Community", you will explore the key messages that St. Paul laid out in his first letter to the new Christian community in Corinth. The conflicts of these early Christians are in many ways similar to our struggles today. Lectures on DVD are taught by Dr. Tim Gray, Director of the Denver Catholic Biblical School, and author of several books. This study is part of the Great Adventure series by Jeff Cavins.
Cost is $23 per study set (households may share a study set). Please be ready at registration to pay with cash or check.
Participants will again be able to choose either the Wednesday morning session (9:30am-11:15am) or Thursday evening session (7pm-8:45pm). This 10-week study will begin on March 3rd (Wednesday morning) and March 4th (Thursday evening). We will be taking Holy Week off.

This group meets 4-6 times annually for days of recollection

- Tuesday Sacramental Preparation Classes:
- First Reconciliation and First Eucharist (in Spanish) begin on September 22, 2009, at 4:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
- Classes continue throughout the school year.

- Information Session (in English) Monday, October 5, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall, for parents of those who wish to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

St. Thomas Altar Society
All women of St. Thomas are automatically members of the Altar Society. Dues are $5.00 per year. A survey provided to the women helps the officers provide the opportunity for involvement in various functions of the Altar Society. Some activities include:
- altar flowers & linens
- funeral luncheons
- donations & scholarships
- rummage sale
- parish picnic (co-sponsored w/ Knights of Columbus)
The Altar Society provides a reception for those making their First Communion. The annual Altar Society Bazaar is our fund-raiser and is held the second week-end in November; open to the public. The bazaar features a raffle, a luncheon on Saturday, the Country Kitchen, Grandma's Attic and much more.
Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month @ 7 p.m. in the Parish hall. The September meeting starts off the year with a salad supper @ 6 p.m., inviting the Knights to participate.

St. Vincent dePaul Society
St. Vincent dePaul is dedicated to serving the homeless and disadvantaged through shelter assistance, food programs, referral services, and thrift stores (access to clothing, furniture and household items).
Compassion and support are provided to individuals in need, regardless of race, origin, religion, or gender.
St. Vincent dePaul also provides the opportunity to serve the needy as volunteers.

Music
St. Thomas Folk Group practice is on Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The instruments in this group include the keyboard and guitar. This group plays for the 5:30 Mass on Saturday evenings. Attendance at Friday practices is required. For all inquiries, please contact Terri Isom or Patsy Parrish.
St. Thomas Traditional Choir practice is on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The primary instrument for this choir is organ; however all instruments are welcome. This choir sings for the 10:00 Mass on Sunday mornings. Attendance at Tuesday practices is required. For all inquiries, please contact Terri Isom or Shirley Czerwonka.
St. Thomas Resurrection Choir sings upon request at all St. Thomas funerals. We respectfully request your presence one hour prior to the Mass or Service to warm up your voice. Anyone who is interested in joining this special choir must contact Terri Isom, Music Coordinator.

Social Outreach
A group of volunteers donate time to check on the sick, shut-ins and widows/widowers of St. Thomas, as well as people who are receiving foster care, are in assisted living programs, or in nursing homes. This group is modeled on the Be-Friending Program and many parishioners are part of the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers group.
A group has also formed to welcome newcomers to the parish and provide a dinner for newcomers at the Parish Hall.
