Becoming Catholic: O.C.I.A. 2025-2026
(Formerly RCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults is a formal process of full initiation of new members into the Catholic Church.

Are you Interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith?

The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a process by which adults and children who have not been baptized or baptized in another faith tradition can learn more about our faith. OCIA takes place in stages, with each stage expressing a further development or deepening of one’s faith. During the first stage the potential converts are presented with an overview of Catholicism and its teachings and practices. The next stages consist of further instruction, which includes breaking open the Word for discussion, learning and growth. The sessions run from fall thru spring, with full initiation occurring at the Easter Vigil. Sessions after Easter provide further instruction as well as insight for the ongoing journey. Participants will begin by attending weekly sessions. These sessions will start in October 2025 on Tuesdays from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm and continue until late spring 2026.

Sponsors Needed!

OCIA is actively looking for parishioners interested in becoming a sponsor. A sponsor is a fully initiated, active Catholic.  He/she acts as a personal link between the convert and the community, providing encouragement, sharing faith stories and prays with and for the convert.  A sponsor tries to attend the OCIA sessions (subject to availability).  Please prayerfully consider this important and rewarding ministry.  Not sure if this is right for you?  Ready to sponsor?  Have questions?  Email [email protected]
